Mike Bello is an entrepreneur involved in many businesses in California, Nevada and Arizona. He is also involved in the horse racing business as an owner and breeder. Bello Family Vineyards came as a result of his great love and admiration for good wines. In 2001, he bought a piece of property in Napa Valley (St. Helena) and built a home for himself and hired the best wine farmer; David Abreu to plant his vineyard. All lots were individually harvested and fermented to insure the ultimate expression of each individual site. All grapes were gently pressed in a basket press and run via gravity directly to barrel where the native the native malolactic fermentation occurred. South African born winemaker, Jon Berlin (El Molino, Flowers & Joseph Phelps) made first two vintages of Bello Cabernet Sauvignon. With 2006, consulting winemaker Aaron Pott (Quintessa, Château La Tour Figeac & Château Troplong-Mondot) will have his fingerprints on Bello wines.
