There is no great story of family legacy or historical generations of winemaking in Chris Brockway’s past. He was assistant winemaker at JC Cellars, but his story of wine making is one of personal dedication and the discovery of talent that gives life to the intoxicating blend of farming and chemistry. Chris didn’t delve immediately into the pursuit of wine making. It was after years of attempting other “more practical” careers. Chris earned a degree in enology from Fresno State, and has since, been working with Rhône varietal grapes to produce wines of depth, character and focus. The Margarita Vineyard is the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles Appellation. It is actually much closer to the town of San Luis Obispo than Paso Robles. The Margarita Vineyard is located just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean at an altitude of more than 1000 feet. These factors result in perfect conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon with warm days and cool nights. For entire vineyard, Chris Brockway is practicing "sustainable farming".
