Montalcino is one of the most important viticultural areas in Italy. Its terrain and climate infuse into its vine the elements that are subsequently translated into Montalcino’s unique flavours, aromas and fragrances. Giovanna Neri has been a wine producer since 1997. In 1971 Giovanna’s father bought a farm in Montalcino and after few years he convinced his family to move to the country. Later, Gianna attended the University in Siena, but in 1991 her father died suddenly, and the family was left with no alternative: they had to keep the farm going! After 1994, when Diletta, her daughter, was born, she decided, in agreement with her brother, to split the estate and create her own company: Azienda Agricola Col di Lamo. Her first wine, Lamo (Sangiovese & Cabernet Sauvignon), was released in 2003. His name comes from the farm where it is produced. She said: “This wine is a son for me“. It represents the fulfillment of her dreams. She took care of all the process, from the vineyard to the cellar, from the choice of the bottle to the label. She chose orange, which is the colour of the stripes in the sky at dawn and sunset and will be in all her labels. The wine production is combined with an extra virgin olive oil and a Grappa, as well.
