Demi, John and Sandra Zahoudanis
The wines of Demetria Estate closely echo their respective vineyard sources and the measured hand of Winemaker Mike Roth. Estate owner John Zahoudanis is committed to the consistent and enduring creation of uncommon wines.
At 1,500 feet, Demetria Estate Vineyard has the highest elevation of any vineyard in the Valley. This high elevation creates meso- and microclimates surrounding the hillside and canyon plantings, which are unique to this vineyard and allow grapes to achieve great depth and expression.
Located in the Santa Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County, the Gaia Vineyard is comprised of vineyard rows that are each farmed individually. Dedicated to Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, each vineyard row resides within a small designated vineyard block, which is subsequently farmed according to the needs of each winemaker drawing fruit from her/his individual block. Formerly known as Ashley's Vineyard, the Gaia Vineyard, has, for years, produced coveted, singular manifestations of Burgundian varietals. Esteemed producers, such as Brewer-Clifton, Tantara Winery, Domaine Chandon, Badge, and David Bruce have vineyard-designated small offerings of their wines that have originated at our Santa Rita Hills vineyard. Demetria Estate also produced a portfolio of Gaia Vineyard-designated wines including a limited-release Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. |
