The Geyerhof is situated on the southern slopes of the Danube Valley east of Krems and forms part of the Lower Austrian wine region known as Kremstal (Krems Valley). Here, Josef and Ilse Maier cultivate 15 hectares of vineyards in optimal sites which are distinguished by their proximity to the Danube River. Noticeable temperature differences between day and night encourage the development of distinctive aromas and from the basis for top-quality wines. The special character and personality of the wines are however marked by Josef and Ilse Maier's passion for wine and love for nature as well as tradition and joie de vivre, all of which influence their way of life and their decisions. Weingut (domain) Geyerhof is certified biodynamic farming estate.
Biodynamic viticulture is the latest big challenge in increasing quality: a trapeze act without a safety net which requires detailed know-how and an extraordinary sense of delicacy. This is a process that makes the greatest of demands upon a vintner. In practice this means precise and exact work.
