Russell From has started Herman Story label with 2001 vintage.  The winery is named after his grandfather-Herman Story.  Russell got his start in wine while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Agriculture program. Intending to become a farm equipment magnate, Russell began working at wineries mostly because they were hiring, but it wasn’t long before he “got the bug” and began a serious study of winemaking.  He makes wines in the craftsman style, more like a carpenter then an architect.  He purchases all grapes from the best possible vineyards.  He visits all the vineyards, at least once a month and always tastes the grapes in the morning before the harvest.
