This is a family project. Mother, father and son farm the vineyard and make the wine. Kopriva means nettle in Czech, and stands for the nettles which grow on the estate.. The Chardonnay is a vineyard designate. 100% of the fruit comes from the single-vineyard estate, Cassidy Ranch (approximately 12 acres). The property lies within the Los Carneros Appellation of Sonoma Valley. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed using a bladder (membrane) press. The juice was fermented in a stainless steel tank for 18 days. After fermentation, the wine was kept in stainless steel tanks on the yeast lees. Myles McMonigle is the winemaker.
