The Lamadrid winery was founded by Guillermo García-Lamadrid. Guillermo, a Cuban born successful Puerto Rican businessman, after decades of doing business in Argentina acquired vineyard holdings in Mendoza, Argentina and together with his manager and oenologist, Hector Durigutti and winemaker Pablo Durigutti are fashioning some of Mendoza’s most exciting wines. Mr. García-Lamadrid acquired three different properties in the Agrelo region of Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza. Together these properties comprise approximately 100 hectares of vineyards. Unlike many other wineries in Argentina that have emerged since 2001, Lamadrid produces wines solely from its own vineyard holdings, selling excess production to other wineries in the region. This unique situation assures that Lamadrid controls every aspect of production, from the vine to the bottle. In 2008, Lamadrid purchased a new winemaking facility.
