Viña Tabalí was founded in 2003 as a result of a joint venture between Viña San Pedro and Agricola Rio Negro and it is situated 400 km north of Santiago de Chile, close to the Atacama Desert. However, it is also close to the ocean and the climate is relatively cool, making the wines elegant and with a good acidity. The Limari Valley is the most northern growing region of Chile. This magical terroir was discovered by entrepreneur, Guillermo Lukšic Craig, a pioneer in the planting of vineyards in this area. Tabalí means "passage of waters" in the dialect of the Diaguite culture, whose ancestors discovered the area. The vines were planted in 1993. The grapes are all handpicked and very carefully vinified.
