Don Manuel Villafane is Bodega started in 2002, focused on a small and exclusive production of estate vineyards and exclusive grape growing areas. However, Villafane’s family has been in the wine business on the last 400 years. In 1611 Don Manuel Villafane arrived to Argentina from Spain as a soldier to fight the English pirates who attacked the Spanish vessels, later he re started as a farmer, and become in a pioneer of the viticulture in Argentina by being one of the first person planting vineyards on this lands. The objective was: to supply the Church’s priests and later on the Colonos, who came to the “New World“ in order to face new opportunities of development. The estate has some 40 hectares of vineyards in Maipœ, Tupungato and Luj‡n de Cuyo area, with age from 15 to 88 years. The owner of this brand new winery, which is still under construction and planning to open their doors for visitors in 2010, is Tomas Machado de Villafa–e. The Kelthue is a bird that lives and protects vineyards from other animals.
