Born in Minneapolis, Hugh moved to Boston to study music after high school. He discovered the wonders of farmstead cheese while working as a specialty cheese buyer in college and quickly became fascinated with the idea of terroir.

After several years of buying cheese and wine for retailers in Boston and Chicago, he joined Novovino to work with their book of small production, artisanal wines. 

Hugh loves ash-ripened goat cheese, jazz, and high acid white wine. 

Hugh joined Novovino in November 2017.
