The name of the estate comes from the beech trees found on the property. The vineyard site is called Pietra del Diavolo (The Devil’s Stone), to reflect the beautiful yellow stones which master stonecutters believed were hardened by the devil to prevent construction of the church. The size of the vineyard is only 8 hectares and it is 1,200 feet above see level. Tenuta Il Faggeto is emerging to a leading Vino Nobile estate in Montepulciano area. A good deal of the credit belongs to consultant Andrea Mazzoni, a canny veteran who taught enology at Siena for many years.
