Originally from Algeria, the Sénéclauze family took root in Provence in 1962 after a detour through the Medoc. Both owners of vineyards and specialists in the distribution of fine wines, Sénéclauze cultivate the entrepreneurial taste, love of his profession and long-term vision. The attachment to Provence is confirmed by the acquisition in 1991 of the Domaine de Val d’Arenc in the heart of the Bandol appellation. The name Val d’Arenc is an echo of the Latin word arena which means sand. Sands quarries still exploited are located below the estate. In 2015, the arrival of Gerald Damidot, as Director of Chateau d’Arenc, marked a new impetus. New working methods were implemented in the vineyards with the idea of becoming totally organic. The Beausset-Vieux hill, where the Château's 25 hectares of vineyards are located, is essentially made up of Triassic and Jurassic terrain. The grape variety is mainly composed of Mourvèdre (70%), used in the development of rosés and reds, supplemented by Grenache noir (20%), Syrah (2%), and Cinsault (8%). The white grape varieties are made up of Clairette (90%) Sauvignon blanc (6%) Rolle for 2% and Ugni blanc (2%). The Château Val d'Arenc cellar, completely renovated in 2013, benefits from state-of-the-art equipment. The hot and cold thermo-regulated vats of the Lejeune brand can receive up to 300 tons of harvest. Meticulous care in each vinification operation, in particular delicate manipulations for the whites and rosés, is given to the wines from the harvest to the bottling. The reds, vinified traditionally, are then aged in casks (François Frère, Rousseau) and barrels (Cavin, Berthomieux, Seguin Moreau) made by the greatest coopers in France.
