Daniel Dumont is located in the picturesque village of Rilly-La-Montagne in 1er Cru vineyard country on the north side of the Montagne de Reims. They combine tradition with modernity and the respect of the environment. Champagne Daniel Dumont exploits its “human size” in the assembly of its wines which are elegant and complex. The soils are composed of hard limestone, chalk and marl. Some of the best white wines of northern France are made on these soils. In addition, the semi-continental weather brings warm summers and autumns. The wines are made unhurriedly with close attention to detail. Daniel Dumont is one of Champagne’s twenty five “pépinières” (vine nursery) who sell 200,000 selected, grafted vines every year to the growers in the area. He combines his farm with a quality minded Champagne production. In his 9 degree, churchlike cellar, the Champagnes are stored at least 4 years before sold. Dumont owns 20 acres in seven villages: Sézanne, Villers-Allerand, Villers-Marmery, Ludes, Rilly-la-Montagne, Chigny-les-Roses and Dormans. The winemaker is Jean-Michel Dumont.
