The Lemain-Pouillot estate was founded in 1960 by Colette and Clotaire Pouillot. In 2004, their daughter Francine took over the farm, and her son Maxime joined her in 2010. This family estate cultivates 5 hectares of vines located on the hillsides of Village of Bué, renowned as the best in the Sancerre region. Their Sancerre Blanc wines come from hard and stony limestone soils (caillottes) which bring finesse, fruitiness and freshness to the wines. While the slightly clayey white soils provide structure and substance. Their Sancerre rouge, pure Pinot Noir is planted on clay-limestone soils where the aromas of red fruits are perfectly expressed. The estate is managed using integrated pest management. Part of it is grassed over on the steep slopes to limit soil erosion. They do not use chemical weed killers and work the soils to activate microbial life, and we do not use insecticides or anti-rot products. In the cellar, thanks to equipment and working methods combining new techniques and respect for traditions, they produce our wines under optimal conditions.
