The family legacy began in 1897 when Italian immigrant Giuseppe Miolo arrived in Brazil and purchased “Lote 43” (Lot 43) in Bento Gonçalves. For nearly a century, the family only grew grapes for other producers until officially establishing the modern winery in 1989. Miolo Winery is the largest and most prominent wine producer in Brazil. Headquartered in the scenic Vale dos Vinhedos region of Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, the winery is a premier destination for wine tourism, celebrated for its premium estate-grown labels and traditional-method sparkling wines. Altogether Miolo farms over 1200 hectares of vineyards and produces around 15 million liters of wine per year. They have four different winemaking facilities, and multiple winemakers. Michel Rolland has been a consulting winemaker in the past.
