Rubis Winery, having its roots in traditional family viticulture and viniculture of Mr. Mate Mandarić and his ancestors, represents modern revolution focused on improvement of traditional and implementation of modern in its magic search for wine perfection. The most recent history of the Vinarija Rubis begins in 2014, when the former karate champion Oliver Mandarić took over his uncle’s winery and started to modernize it to one of the best wineries in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Winery Rubis, with its capacity of 200 000 Liters stretches on 20 hectars of vineyards which are situated on the best micro locations in Herzegovina. Vionica, Prenj and Pjana Brda vineyards have always been ideal vineyard areas which provided a certain feature, quality, and identity to its wines. Geographically this area is directly opposite of Italy‘s top wine-growing regions. It is the mineral-rich rock that gives the wine its unmistakable taste. Žilavka and Blatina are the most representative grape varietals and a bit of international sorts like Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc make the frame of the vineyards. Žilavka is a white wine grape variety planted primarily in the Mostar region of Herzegovina, the southern area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a varietal wine, Žilavka is known for its bright freshness and acidity. Blatina is red wine grape variety primarily grown in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Production is focused in the area south of Mostar around the towns of Čitluk, Međugorje, Ljubuški, and Čapljina.
